A little more information about
Michael Schauffele – He is co-administrator of the Shively Family DNA project
at FamilyTree DNA. He is the initiator of the above reunion in Germany. He was born in Stuttgart/Germany on
24-Jul-1942. In 1969 he graduated from the University of Stuttgart with a
degree in structural and civil engineering. In 1963 he married Renate Christine
Hofman and they have 3 sons and 5 grandchildren. For 40 years he was owner and general
manager of a medium-sized group of companies in the area of Stuttgart
concerning construction of all kinds of buildings, homebuilding, project
development, architectural and engineering offices. In 1983 he and his wife
bought a small ranch with the name of “German-S- Ranch” near the city of
Visalia, CA. In 2003 they immigrated to live full time on the ranch growing
oranges, grapefruit and olives while leasing the pasture to cattle breeders.
Michael is still doing business in Schweiberdingen, close to Stuttgart, leasing
out an office building which is locally managed by his youngest son,
Kaj-Domnnik Schauffele. For almost 40 years Michael’s time for genealogy
research was limited by his business career. From about 2013 he started
intensively researching again. Finding relatives scattered around the world
became the main focus of his family research. Michael is hoping to be able to
summarize his genealogy research and write a family chronicle about “The
descendants of the two Scheiffele from Gingen upon Fils” to preserve his family
history for future generations.
