Hi Larry,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Erin Pettit. I am the granddaughter of John and Helen Van Bibber, through my mother, their daughter, Sandie Seckington. My second cousin, Rob (son of Mary L), sent this to me. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this! I was so surprised to find out that my grandpa, who we called "Baba" was married before he married Mimi (Helen). We truly had no idea! Would you be able to send us more detail on that? I haven't looked through the rest of your genealogy blog, but look forward to doing so when I have some time.
Best wishes,
Erin
Erin, I want you and Rob to know that I used information from ancestry.com regarding your grandfather John D. Van Bibber. I have spent the afternoon researching the information I used and I believe the marriage of your John Van Bibber to Gladys I Moore is incorrect. I have corrected this blog. You as a granddaughter and/or a member of your family would surely have known if John had another wife. I did find your grandfather on the 1930 Childress County, TX census living with his parents. By 1940 John Van Bibber has married Helen Shively and they are listed on the 1940 SanDiego County, CA census. I could not locate the marriage record for John and Helen in CA. Thank you for your feedback. My purpose for the genealogy work that I do on the Shively's is to try to correctly document our information for future generations. I want the information to be accurate.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this amazing post. Carrie's full name is Carrie Tennessee Riggs. I have had great difficulty identifying her parents. I have updated Ancestry. Com with the information but haven’t been on the site in awhile to investigate further.
