Alvin Cleveland Shively was born on 6-Mar-1886 and died 18-May-1956 in Montgomery County, Ohio. He was the son of John Daniel Shively (born 29-Oct-1860 died 25-Dec-1933) and Elizabeth Harriet Brubaker (born 13-Jan-1870 died 3-Sep-1949). John Daniel Shively was the son of Owen Gripe Shively (1815-1904) and Hannah Ullery (1816-1890). Alvin Cleveland Shively married Marilla Geraldine Squire on 13-Sep-1906. Marilla was born 22-Sep-1886 and died 19-Oct-1974. Marilla was the daughter of William Henry Squire (born 29-Aug-1855 died 2-Dec-1921) and Harriet Jane Griftner (born 28-Dec-1856 died 12-Feb-1893). William Henry Squire was the son of Daniel W. Squire (1830-1876) and Mary Ann Hoover (1830-1907).

Alvin C. Shively, 70, of 1221 Old Orchard av., died unexpectedly at 6 a.m. Friday at his residence after a brief illness.
Mr. Shively was born in Montgomery county and had resided most of his life in Dayton. He had been a salesman for the Harris-Seybold Co. 31 years, retiring about seven years ago.
Mr. Shively was a member of Mack Memorial Church of the Brethren; Mystic lodge, F&AM; Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, and the Antioch Temple Shrine.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine; a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Herbert; two sons, Kenneth J. and Robert W., and a brother, Dr. F. L. Shively Sr., all of Dayton, and three grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Services for Alvin C. Shively, 70, of 1221 Old Orchard av., will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Marker funeral home, 1706 N. Main st., by the Rev. Earl Bowman. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The Mystic Lodge, F&AM, will conduct services at 8 pm. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Shively died unexpectedly at 6 a.m. Friday at his residence after a brief illness. He retired about seven years ago after being a salesman for the Harris-Seybold Co. for 31 years.
