Clinton County Patriarch Dead
ROSSVILLE, Ind., May 10.-- (Special) -- John S. Shively, 93-year-old Clinton county pioneer, and the oldest male citizen of Ross township, died Friday morning at 8 o'clock at his home southwest of here after an illness of several weeks. Death was due to cancer.
Born April 17, 1836, Mr. Shively spent practically all of his life in this vicinity. He was married to Barbara Metzger, who died thirty years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Aaron Cripe, and four grandchildren. Mr. Shively had been an elder in the Old Order German Baptist (Dunkard) church for many years.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday morning at 10 o'clock from the Old Order church southwest of here. The Rev. O. A. Custer, of North Manchester, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Uriah F. Brubaker and the Rev. J. W. Skiles, of near Rossville; burial in the cemetery adjoining the church.

ROSSVILLE, Ind., May 11. -- John S. Shively, 93 years old, the oldest male resident of Clinton county, died yesterday near here. He spent all his life in this community. He was an elder in the Old Order German Baptist (Dunkard) Church near here for many years. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow. The Rev. O. A. Custer of North Manchester will officiate.
