Gilbert Clinton Shively
Gilbert Clinton Shively, 67, of Duck run, died in Portsmouth General hospital Monday at 8:30 a.m. of heart trouble following an illness of five weeks duration. He was admitted to the hospital as a medical patient about a month ago.
Mr. Shively was a civil engineer and had been employed by the N. & W. railroad, Frowine Bros., and S. Monroe and Son, contractors. His last position was with the state highway department as a bridge inspector. He was a brother of Orville Shively, county commissioner at one time, who died about four years ago.
Mr. Shively is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mathilda Shively, and the following children: Mrs. Clif Murfin of Third street, Mrs. Orville Phillips of Ninth street, Mrs. Florence Tome of Fourth street, Miss Myrtle Shively of New York city, Ralph Shively of Rushtown, Charles Shively of Columbus, and one brother, Charles, also of Columbus.
The body was removed to the Melcher funeral home pending funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Matilda Shively
Following an illness of eight months, Mrs. Matilda Shively, 86, of the Thurman Apartments, 16th and Dewey Sts., died at 8:05 a.m. today in Smith-Everett Hospital. Mrs. Shively was admitted to the hospital in April. Death was attributed to complications.
Mrs. Shively was born June 26, 1866, in Scioto County, a daughter of the late Thomas and Nancy Cole Jones. In 1884 she was married to Gilbert Shively, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shively spent her entire life in this community.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Sadie Bussler, with whom she made her home at the Thurman Apts.; four grandchildren and give great-grandchildren.
In additions to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son and two daughters.
Friends may call at Melcher Funeral Home Friday morning. Funeral services will be held there at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Rushtown Cemetery.

Pallbearers fro Mrs. Matilda Shively, 86, of the Thurman Apts., 16th and Dewey Sts., were Richard Craig, Charles Jones, Jerome Distel, Alvin Jones, Samuel Jones and Stanley Phillips.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Melcher Funeral Home with Rev. Cass Santos officiating. Burial was in Rushtown Cemetery.
Mrs. Shively died at 8:05 a.m. Thursday in Smith-Everett Hospital, where she was admitted in April. Death was attributed to complications.
