Henry was married to Mary (Mamie) Ellen Cudhea on 24-Jun-1885 in Paulding County, OH. She was the daughter of John Cuddaho (1833-1864) and Honora A. Fighney (1834-1920).
Listed on the 1900 Defiance Township, Defiance County, OH census is the family of Henry Shively born Sep-1857 age 42, wife Mamie born Sep-1863 age 36, daughter Nora born Apr-1887 age 13, daughter Grace born Feb-1891 age 9, mother in law Nora Cudhea age 65, niece Blanch Columbia born Jun-1888 age 11 and niece Catherine Columbia born May-1894 age 6. On the 1910 Dayton Township, Dayton City, Montgomery County, OH census are Henry J. Shively age 49, wife Mamie E. age 43, and daughter Grace T. age 19. On the 1940 Rochester, Fulton County, IN census is the household of Henry Shively age 82 widowed, cousin Ralph Devault age 25, cousin Vivian Devault age 26 and cousin John Devault age 2.

Eursel Shively, daughter of Henry and Mamie Shively, died at their home 203 Main street, Monday, at 11:30 a.m., aged 1 year, 1 month and 21 days. Funeral from English Catholic church at 8 o'clock Wednesday. The remains will be interred at Junction.

Change In The Police Force
The resignation of Henry Shively of the Defiance police force has been accepted by Mayor Evans and Gust Matthews will be appointed by Mayor Evans to fill the vacancy, subject to the confirmation of the city council.
Policeman Shively made a faithful officer and retires with the good will of the city officials.

Has Closed Up Auction Store
Henry Shively, who for the past year has conducted an auction store on Clinton street near Fourth, will close the place for good Saturday evening, preparatory to leaving the city.
Mr. Shively with his family will locate in Montpelier, O., where the former will represent a Chicago firm, handling their goods in that city. Mr. Shively returned from Montpelier last evening, where he had been for the past several days completing arrangements for his removal.

Former Policeman Here Death Victim
Funeral of Henry Shively, 86, retired carpenter and a Defiance policeman many years ago, was held Thursday afternoon in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home, Rochester, Ind., followed by burial in the IOOF cemetery there.
Mr. Shively died Tuesday in Woodlawn hospital, Rochester, after a two months illness.
Mr. Shively went to Rochester ten years ago from South Bend, Ind. He was born at Grand Rapids, O., the son of Albert and Catherine Shively. His wife, Mayme, died several years ago.
He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Grace Herman, Detroit; and a sister, Mrs. Cora Snellgrove, Borger, Texas.
