This site was created by Larry Shively who is researching the history of the Shively families. The goal is to have a site where all Shively researchers can share and ask questions in regards to their Shively lines. The largest majority of the Shively family records are located in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. There are early records of Shively's also in Virginia and Kentucky. There are not many established Shively lineages back to Europe. There are documented lineages to Switzerland and Germany. Through the sharing of information from all of our research it is desired that all can learn about our Shively families.

  1. Thanks for the nice entry. There is a funny story as to how I was named Leann. My father is Moreton Lee and My mother is Wanda Lee. Therefore, they took their middle names and added ann for my name. Dad was unaware that his great-grandmother was named Lee Ann because he had just always referred to her as Grandma Hutcheson. However, the Kunz/Hutcheson side of the family has always insisted that I was named after Lee Ann Owens Hutcheson. They refused to spell my name the way it was on my birth certificate. Any references to me were made to Lee Ann. According to Cora Hutcheson Byrne in "How It All Began" : "Moreton Lee married Wanda Schneider and they have one child named Lee Ann for her great-great-grandmother Hutcheson. She is the first to carry Mother's full name in the five generations." Aunt Cora sent me a silver dollar on every birthday because "I was named after her mother!" I still have the five silver dollars that she sent to Lee Ann before she died. By the way, I love my name and am proud to carry it on for all of the Lees that came before me! Leann Shively Collins
