This site was created by Larry Shively who is researching the history of the Shively families. The goal is to have a site where all Shively researchers can share and ask questions in regards to their Shively lines. The largest majority of the Shively family records are located in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. There are early records of Shively's also in Virginia and Kentucky. There are not many established Shively lineages back to Europe. There are documented lineages to Switzerland and Germany. Through the sharing of information from all of our research it is desired that all can learn about our Shively families.

Isaac Henry And Anna Hannah Shively, Who Lived In Sedgwick County, Kansas

Isaac Henry Shively and wife Anna Hannah (maiden name unknown) are listed on the 1880 Sedgwick County, Kansas census record.  In this household are I. H. Shively age 27, wife Hannah age 25 and son Jessie age 3.  In the next household are his mother, Lucia (Luticia) Shively age 53 and his brother, William age 20.     Anna died on the 16-March-1881 in Sedgwick County, Kansas.

Several newspaper accounts give information regarding the death of I. H. Shively. Located in the Idaho Daily Statesman, Boise, Idaho, Friday morning, October 7, 1892, Page 1, Column 2:
Died Of Hydrophobia
WICHITA, Kan., Oct. 6 --  I. H. Shively, Republican candidate for the legislature from the Ninth district, died today from hydrophobia.  He was bitten by his own dog about a month ago.

Located in the Daily Illinois State Register, Springfield, IL, Sunday morning, October 9, 1892, Page 2, Column 2 is the following:
The Madstone Failed In This Case
WICHITA, Kan., Oct. 8. --  I. H. Shively, a Republican candidate for the legislature, died here Thursday from hydrophobia.  A mad stone had adhered to the wound for sixteen hours, but soon after the dreaded symptoms manifested themselves.

Located in the Descendants Of Henry And Mary Banta Shively, by Lottie Compton McDowell, 1972,  more on the lineage of Isaac Henry (I. H.) Shively is learned. Isaac Shively was the son of John M. Shively.  John M. Shively was the son of the Reverend Henry B. and Mary Hunter Shively.  John  M. Shively was born on 21-December-1828 in Orange County, Indiana.  He married Lutecia Buntin on 4-May-1852 in Daviess County, Indiana.  He died on 22-March-1863 in Helena, Andrew County, Missouri.  

Henry B. Shively was the son of Henry and Mary Banta Shively.  Henry B. was born 1-January-1799 in Shelby County, Kentucky.  He was married in Nelson County, Kentucky to Mary (Polly) Hunter, daughter of Eliphalet and Frances Hunter.  His wife, Mary, died 19-November-1869 and Henry B. married second to Margery Allen Burton, widow of Hutchings Burton.  Henry B. was a minister of the Gospel.  He died 12-February-1852 in Daviess County, Indiana.
