This site was created by Larry Shively who is researching the history of the Shively families. The goal is to have a site where all Shively researchers can share and ask questions in regards to their Shively lines. The largest majority of the Shively family records are located in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. There are early records of Shively's also in Virginia and Kentucky. There are not many established Shively lineages back to Europe. There are documented lineages to Switzerland and Germany. Through the sharing of information from all of our research it is desired that all can learn about our Shively families.

  1. Hello -- I am wondering if you have any information on Daniel Shively, born 1810 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I have found the post you wrote about his son, Solomon Shively, but am wondering if you have any idea which Shively tree Daniel connects to? I am directly descended from Daniel, and would love to find the correct connection. Also, if my father (a male Shively) did the DNA swabbing for Ancestry, is that information what could be helpful for the Shively DNA project? Thank you! Kristin (Shively) Taylor

  2. Kristin---I have worked on many segments of the different Shively lines. I would very much encourage your father's participation in the FamilyTree Shively DNA project. The project has been very successful for our Shively lines because the paper trails could not prove our relationships. I can not be sure but I might guess that your father's DNA might match some of the Shively's who have the Swiss Schaublin documentation.

  3. Hello Larry--

My father is interested in participating, but we aren't sure of the best method. Do you suggest going through Ancestry DNA? Or do you have another suggestion?
    Thank you!

  4. Larry, thank you. Looking to connect for Shively family genealogy and history. My Great-great grandfather was Joel Shively. He moved to the Iowa territory just before 1833.
