This site was created by Larry Shively who is researching the history of the Shively families. The goal is to have a site where all Shively researchers can share and ask questions in regards to their Shively lines. The largest majority of the Shively family records are located in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. There are early records of Shively's also in Virginia and Kentucky. There are not many established Shively lineages back to Europe. There are documented lineages to Switzerland and Germany. Through the sharing of information from all of our research it is desired that all can learn about our Shively families.

Anna Washburn Vance Shively, Wife of James William Shively, Who Lived In Lancaster County, Nebraska

James Shively and wife, Anna, are listed on the 1920 City of Lincoln, Lancaster County, NE census.  They are living at 300 South 10th Street.  James is age 37 and born in Indiana.  Anna is age 45 and born in Ohio.  In the household are son, Fred Vance age 25 who was born in Kansas and female L. H. Lake, age 57 who is a roomer.  The World War I registration for James William Shively lists his address as 300 South 10th Street.  He was born on 13-August-1882.

Annie Vance (Anna Blackburn), wife of Willis Ira Vance, is listed on the 1920 City of Belleville, Republic County, KS census.  She is recorded as being born June-1869 in Ohio. They state they have been married 12 years.  Living children in the household are Neva A Vance born Oct-1889, Fred A Vance born Aug-1892 and Frank B born May 1896.  
  
Anna "Annie" Blackburn Vance Shively was the daughter of Collins and Emma Washburn. Collins was born 3-Sep-1843 and died 1-Feb-1921. Emma was born 18-Oct-1846 and died 15-Apr-1919.

The following newspaper obituary was located in The Belleville Telescope And Belleville Freeman, Belleville, Republic County, KS, Thursday, June 23, 1921, Page 1, Column 5:
Anna Washburn Shively
Mrs. Anna Washburn Shively was born in Adams county, Ohio, on June 12, 1874 and departed this life at Lincoln, Nebr., June 19, 1921, aged 47 years and 7 days.
She moved to Belleville when a child.  She united in marriage to Mr. Wm. Vance in 1889, and to this union were born six children, three of whom have passed away.  The three surviving children, namely:  Mrs. Neva Bolden of Fullerton, Cal., Fred Vance and Frank Vance of Lincoln, Nebr., were present at the funeral.
In 1917 she was united in marriage to James W. Shively.
Besides these she leaves to mourn her loss four brothers and four sisters as follows:  Mrs. May Nesmith of Lincoln, Nebr., Mrs. Callie Holland of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Henry Williams, of Belleville, Kansas,  Mr. Oscar Washburn of Belleville, Mr. Chas. Washburn of Belleville, Mr. Robert Washburn of Belleville, Mr. Clyde Washburn of Fairbury, Nebr.
Deceased had a kind, loving disposition, and was devoted to her family, always ready to help in time of need.
Funeral services were held at Mr. Henry Williams' home, conducted by R. V. Hughes.  Interment was made in the Belleville cemetery.
