This site was created by Larry Shively who is researching the history of the Shively families. The goal is to have a site where all Shively researchers can share and ask questions in regards to their Shively lines. The largest majority of the Shively family records are located in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. There are early records of Shively's also in Virginia and Kentucky. There are not many established Shively lineages back to Europe. There are documented lineages to Switzerland and Germany. Through the sharing of information from all of our research it is desired that all can learn about our Shively families.

Henry Rice Shively And Wife Thrisie Margaret Thompson From Taylor County, Kentucky To Shelby County, Missouri

A cousin, Fred "Joe" Luke, recently found the newspaper obituary for Thrisie Margaret Thompson Shively.  Thrisie Margaret "Maggie" Thompson Shively was the daughter of John Barton Thompson and Mary "Molly" E. Wise. Maggie was born 27-Feb-1876 and died 2-Nov-1929. Thrisie married Henry Rice Shively in Shelby County, MO on 4-Apr-1899 in Shelby County, MO (Shelby County Marriage Book 5, Page 23). Henry Rice Shively was the son of Robert W. Shively and Rosella Rice. He was born on 18-Mar-1874 in Kansas and died 11-Nov-1958 in Shelby County, MO. 

Listed on the 1880 Mannsville District, Taylor County, KY is the household of Robert Shivley age 54, wife Rosealli age 46, son David age 19, Samuell age 15, daughter Margrett age 10, daughter Rosialli age 8, and son Henry age 6.  Listed on the New Market District, Marion County, KY is the household of J. B. Thompson age 24, wife Mary age 25, daughter Margret age 4, daughter Sarah age 2, son John age  5 months. Located on the 1900 Jackson Township, Shelby County, MO census is Henry R. Shivley born March-1874 age 26 and wife Thrise M. born February-1876 age 24. On the 1910 Jackson Township, Shelby County, MO census is the household of Henry Shively age 36, wife Maggie age 34, daughter Elsie age 9, son Wesley age 8, son Herschel age 4, and son Shelby age 4 months. On the 1920 Jackson Township, Shelby County, MO census is the household of Henry Shiveley age 45, wife Margrett age 43, son Wesley B. age 17, son Hershel T. age 15, son Shelby O. age 10, son Vincil E. age 7, and daughter Mary R. age 5.

Death  Of Mrs. Henry R. Shively
Mrs. Henry R. Shively, one of the splendid residents of this community, died at her home near Lakenan, Saturday morning at 1:25 o'clock, after an illness of several months of cancer from which she was a great sufferer.
Thirsie M. Thompson was born at Lebanon, Kentucky, February 27, 1876 and was 53 years, 9 months and 5 days old. She was united in marriage to Henry R. Shively in 1899, and to this union there were born six children, Elsie, Wesley, Hershal, Shelby, Vincil and Mary Rose, the oldest daughter, Elsie, died in 1910. Mrs. Shively and family lived in the Union Chapel vicinity, where they lived until several years ago when they moved to a farm near Lakenan.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband and five children, one grandchild, her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Thompson of Lebanon, Kentucky and two brothers in Kentucky and one brother, Thos. Thompson of Neponsit, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. J. P. Maupin, of Bradford, Ill., the latter two being here to attend the funeral.
Mrs. Shively was a loving and devoted wife and mother, ever doing something for the happiness and comfort of her family, a kind and sincere neighbor and friend, and one who lived her christianity every day of her life, hers was life of service to her fellowman, and she has left to her family a priceless heritage, and her memory will linger long in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held from St. John's Catholic Church in this city at 9:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Fr. Grace, of Shelbina, to a large concourse of relatives and friends and burial was in the Catholic cemetery.
