This site was created by Larry Shively who is researching the history of the Shively families. The goal is to have a site where all Shively researchers can share and ask questions in regards to their Shively lines. The largest majority of the Shively family records are located in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. There are early records of Shively's also in Virginia and Kentucky. There are not many established Shively lineages back to Europe. There are documented lineages to Switzerland and Germany. Through the sharing of information from all of our research it is desired that all can learn about our Shively families.

He married Gertrude Faith Mees on 28-Jun-1924 in Franklin County, OH.  Gertrude Faith Mees, daughter of George Mees and Lydia Tinkler, was born 3-Nov-1903 in London, England and died 19-Oct-1993 in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH.  Albert Marvin Shively was the son of Columbus Preston Shively (born 28-Nov-1868 died 4-May-1948 in Columbus, Franklin County, OH) and Minnie Adel Littlejohn (born 9-Aug-1870 died 2-Oct-1950 in Columbus, Franklin County, OH). Columbus Preston Shively was the son of father not verified and Mary Elizabeth Shively (born 1-Jun-1852 died 4-Mar-1928 in Columbus, Franklin County, OH and later married Isaac Clark). Mary Elizabeth Shively was the daughter of Jacob Shively (born 28-Aug-1810 Columbiana County, OH died 15-Jul-1874 in Gallia County, OH) and Matilda Gilson Shively (born 5-Aug-1812 Columbiana County, OH died 8-Aug-1902 Gallia County, OH).  

Listed on the 1940 Dayton, Montgomery County, OH census is the household of Albert M. Shively age 36 a service manager for Hoover Electric Sweeper, wife Gertrude F. age 36, son Jack M. age 10, son Robert V. age 6, and unnamed male infant. Listed on the 1930 Springfield, Clark County, OH census is the family Albert M. Shively age 26 a repairman for an electric company, wife Gertrude F. age 26 and son Jackie age 7 months. Listed on the 1920 Columbus, Franklin County, OH census is the family of Columbus P. Shively age 49 a foreman in a factory, son Albert M. age 15 a woodworker in a factory, son Thaddius age 9, daughter Edith Roy age 24, granddaughter Thelma M. Roy age 6, granddaughter Florence M. Roy age 5, grandaughter Irene E. Roy age 2, and granddaughter Eileen E. Roy age 2.

Survivors are his wife, Gertrude F.; 4 sons, Jack, Richard and David of Dayton and Robert of New Jersey; 2 brothers, Dwight, Columbus and Vernon of Philadelphia, Pa.; 6 grandchildren.  Services 10 a.m. Wednesday, Hetrick Funeral Home, 15 Wampler Ave.   Rev. Richard Donovan officiating. Burial in Woodland cemetery. Visitation 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Shively of Philadelphia, PA.; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Beatrice Ahrendt of Beavercreek. She was a graduate of The Dayton School of Practical Nursing and a member of N.A.P.N.E.S.  Funeral service 10 A.M., Saturday, Tobias Funeral Home, Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave. Pastor Donald Payne officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
