This site was created by Larry Shively who is researching the history of the Shively families. The goal is to have a site where all Shively researchers can share and ask questions in regards to their Shively lines. The largest majority of the Shively family records are located in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. There are early records of Shively's also in Virginia and Kentucky. There are not many established Shively lineages back to Europe. There are documented lineages to Switzerland and Germany. Through the sharing of information from all of our research it is desired that all can learn about our Shively families.

Milton Shively And 1st Wife Mary Ellen Gephart And 2nd Wife Ilo May Vanderwalker Who Lived In Hungtington County, Indiana

Milton Shively was born 21-Jul-1896 in Huntington County, IN and died 15-Nov-1959 in Huntington County, IN.  Milton Shively was the son of James Albert Shively (born 30-Aug-1868 in Allen County died 20-Nov-1945 in Huntington County, IN) and Tabitha Spencer (born 29-Jun-1878 in Kosciusko County, IN died 8-Apr-1947 in Huntington County, IN). James Albert Shively was the son of Samuel Shively (born Aug-1840 died ca. 1903 in Huntington County, IN) and Esther Alvina Whittington (born 27-Mar-1841 in Wayne County, IN died 16-Dec-1913 in Huntington County, IN).

Milton Shively was married 1st to Mary Ellen Gephart who was born 15-Jul-1893 in Allen County, IN and died 4-May-1959 in Allen County, IN.   She was the daughter of Frank Gephart and Catharine Smith. Milton Shively and Mary Ellen Gephart were divorced in 1919. Children from this marriage include at least Charles Gustave Shively (1917-2008). Milton Shively married 2nd Ilo May Vanderwalker. She was born 21-Jul-1896 in Huntington County, IN and died 15-Nov-1959 in Huntington County, IN and was the daughter of Thomas and Hattie Freel Vanderwalker. They had at the following children: Vivian Shively (1924-1994), Richard Shively (1926-1983) and Donald Shively (1929-1987).

City Resident If Found Dead
Milton Shively, 63, of 1243 Superior Street, was found dead Sunday morning in his home by his daughter, Vivian Shively.
Mr. Shively was a veteran of World War I, resident of Huntington all his life and in the home where he died since 1944, was born July 21, 1896, to James and Tobitha Spencer Shively. His first marriage was to Alice Gephart, who is dead, and the second marriage to Ilo May Vanderwalker, was in December, 1924. She died May 21, 1957.
Children of the first marriage are Charles Shively, Vandalia, Ill.; Arthur Shively of New York, Mary Shively, Fort Wayne, and Violet Shively, whose address in unknown, and children of the second marriage are Richard Shively, Michigan, Vivian Shively at home, and Donald Shively, Huntington. Three children are dead. Also surviving are six grandchildren, six sisters, Mrs. Esther Crago, Huntington route two; Mrs. Nellie Trump, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Nettie Harding, Arizona; Mrs. Adeline McVoy, Huntington route two; and Mrs. Mary Minniear and Mrs. Lula Day of Huntington, and two brothers, Dale Shively, Huntington route two, and Samuel Shively, Mt. Etna. Four brothers, Otto, Russell, Harry and Lovertt Shively are dead.
Friends may call at the Bailey Mortuary where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel with Captain James V. Davis of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Shively, 65, a resident of the Allen County Home will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the D. O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home, the Rev. A. F. Dreger officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, New Haven.
Mrs. Shively died early yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital where she had been a patient for two days.
Surviving are two sons, Charles, Vandalia, Ill., and Arthur, New York City; one daughter, Miss Mary Shively, Fort Wayne; one sister, Mrs. Anna Seltenright, Fort Wayne; two brothers,
Elmer Gephart and George Gephart, both of Fort Wayne, and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Ilo M. Shively Claimed By Death
Rites Thursday Afternoon For Lifelong Resident
Mrs. Ilo May Shively, 61, 1243 Superior street, a lifelong resident of the city, died at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Huntington county hospital, where she was taken May 12. She had been ill six years, seriously ill since May 10.
Mrs. Shively was born April 4, 1896, in Huntington to Thomas and Hattie Freel Vanderwalker and was married to Arthurs Parsons who preceded her in death. Her second marriage was in 1925 to Milton Shively, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter Vivian Shively at home; two sons, Richard Shively of this city and Donald Shively, Pendleton; a grandchild, Nancy Shearer; and a brother, Ralph Vanderwalker, Detroit, Mich. A brother, Walter Vanderwalker, preceded Mrs. Shively in death.
Mrs. Shively was a member of the Salvation Army and the Home League ladies of the army. She resided the last six years at her present address.
Friends may call at the Bailey mortuary, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel with Captain James Davis of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will be in Zion cemetery.
