This site was created by Larry Shively who is researching the history of the Shively families. The goal is to have a site where all Shively researchers can share and ask questions in regards to their Shively lines. The largest majority of the Shively family records are located in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. There are early records of Shively's also in Virginia and Kentucky. There are not many established Shively lineages back to Europe. There are documented lineages to Switzerland and Germany. Through the sharing of information from all of our research it is desired that all can learn about our Shively families.

Death Came Quickly
Peter Shively, of Frankford Township, Dies Quite Suddenly
The citizens of Frankford township were greatly shocked last evening to learn that Mr. Peter Shively, on of their most highly respected citizens, had died quite suddenly at 5 o'clock.
Mr. Shively resides near the Stone Church and has been in declining health.
The suddenness of the sad and entirely unexpected demise occasioned a great shock to the family and cast a gloom over the entire community. Mr. Shively was aged about 68 years and had engaged at farming until recent years when his failing health compelled him to relinquish many of the arduous duties of farm life.  He was a man who was held in high esteem by a large circle of acquaintances because of his thrift and integrity.  When the civil war began he risked his life in defense of national honor and served with distinguished gallantry in Co. F, 209th Penna. Vols.  He was identified with Capt. Colwell Post, 201, GAR, of this place. The deceased was a member of the Church of the Friendly Brethren.
As a husband and father he displayed much loving devotion and his place in the family circle will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Joseph F. Bixler, of Washington, D.C., who was visiting her parents at the time. A brother, David, resides in Perry county.
